Florida mental health professionals save 20% on CE @pdresources.org

Florida-licensed mental health counselors, social workers, and marriage & family therapists (MFTs) have an upcoming license renewal deadline of March 31, 2019. The following continuing education (CE) requirements must be met in order to renew:

Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, MFT & Mental Health Counseling
CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years, including:
2 hours Preventing Medical Errors in Behavioral Health – required each renewal
3 hours Ethics & Boundaries in Psychotherapy – required each renewal
2 hours Domestic Violence – required every third renewal
3 hours Florida Laws and Rules – required every third renewal
Online CE Allowed: No limit
License Renewal Deadline: March 31, 2019
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC, APA, ASWB

Florida Counselors, Social Workers & MFTs – License Renewal & CE Info

Florida-licensed mental health counselors, clinical social workers and marriage & family therapists (MFTs) have an upcoming license renewal deadline of March 31, 2015. Licensees are required to renew their licenses biennially in order to maintain the right to practice.

Continuing Education (CE) Required for Renewal:

CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years, of which:
2 hrs Preventing Medical Errors in Behavioral Health is required each renewal
3 hrs Ethics & Boundaries in Psychotherapy is required each renewal
2 hrs Domestic Violence is required every third renewal
3 hrs Florida Mental Health Laws and Rules is required every third renewal
Online CE Allowed: 30 hours (no limit)
License Expiration: 3/31, odd years
National Accreditation Accepted: APA, NBCC, ASWB

Automatically Reports to CE BrokerProfessional Development Resources is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA); the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC ACEP #5590); the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB #1046, ACE Program); and the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (#BAP346) and is CE Broker compliant (all courses are reported within 1 week of completion).

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling was legislatively established to ensure that every clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, and mental health counselor practicing in this state meet minimum requirements for safe practice. New CE Requirement for Florida Mental Health Providers

New CE Requirement for Florida Mental HealthNew CE Requirement for Licensure Renewals

Florida-licensed social workers, counselors and MFTs must now complete a 3-hour laws and rules update course every third biennium. Current licensees would need to complete this course by the biennium ending March 31, 2019.

The new 3-hour requirement is included within the total 30 hours of continuing education required during each biennial renewal cycle. Also required are 2 hours on the prevention of medical errors, 3 hours on ethics and boundary issues, and 2 hours on domestic violence (also required every third renewal).

Professional Development Resources is approved by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (#BAP346) to provide online, video and home study continuing education courses to Florida’s mental health providers. PDR is in process of developing a course to meet the new laws and rules requirement and is expected to publish within the year.
