Florida psychologists have an upcoming license renewal deadline of May 31, 2026. The following continuing education (CE) requirements must be met prior to renewal:

CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years, including:
3 hours Florida Psychology Ethics & Law each renewal
2 hours Preventing Medical Errors in Behavioral Health each renewal
2 hours Domestic Violence every third renewal 
Online CE Allowed: No limit @ PDR 
License Expiration: 5/31, even years

Psychologists initially licensed within the biennium are exempt from continuing education with the exception of the two-hour course relating to the prevention of Medical Errors.

CE Broker

The Department of Health verifies continuing education records in the electronic tracking system (CE Broker) at the time of license renewal.

Required Background Screening

As of July 1, 2025, all healthcare professionals in Florida must comply with background screening requirements when applying for initial licensure or renewing their license. Your license renewal will not be approved until this requirement, along with all other licensure criteria, has been met. The 2026 edition of the required course, Ethics and Law in Florida Psychology, is now available for Florida-licensed psychologists.

Ethics and Law in Florida Psychology 2026

The purpose of this course is to ensure that Florida-licensed psychologists are fully aware of the ethical and legal privileges and constraints under which they are licensed to practice in the State of Florida. It provides the opportunity for a comprehensive reading of the APA Code of Ethics and the three sets of statutes and rules governing the practice of psychology in Florida:

  1. The Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct of the American Psychological Association
  2. The Florida Health Professions and Occupations General Provisions
  3. The Florida Psychological Services Act
  4. The Florida Administrative Code

These documents set forth the licensure requirements, definitions, principles, standards, competencies, limitations, and guidelines for legal and ethical practice in the areas of privacy and confidentiality, professional boundaries, record keeping, scope of practice, use of testing instruments, clinical supervision, sexual misconduct, and all aspects of psychotherapy. Disciplinary actions and guidelines are detailed in the 490 Practice Act and in the 64B19 Administrative Code.

The 2026 edition of the required course, Ethics and Law in Florida Psychology, is now available for Florida-licensed psychologists.

Case examples are included for the purpose of illustrating the types of practice errors that occur in real life and their real consequences for clients. They are actual cases found in the official public records of the Florida Department of Health Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA).

Texas LPCs License Renewal & CE Info

Florida SLPs License Renewal & CEU Info

Florida-licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists have an upcoming license renewal deadline of December 31, 2025. The following continuing education (CE/CEU) requirements must be met in order to renew:

CE Required: 30 hours every 2 years (50 if dual-licensed), of which:

  • 2 hours on Preventing Medical Errors are required each renewal
  • 18 hours must be clinically related (all 28 “general” hours can be)
  • 10 hours are allowed from non-clinical coursework

Online CE Allowed: No limit if ASHA-approved

License Renewal Deadline: 12/31, odd years

“Clinically Related” is defined as providing the licensee with information, techniques, procedures, or protocols that can be applied in the direct assessment, treatment, diagnosis, or counseling of patients.

First Florida Dietitian License Renewal?

Dietitian’s and Nutritionist’s renewing a license for the first time who were licensed in the second year of the biennium are exempt from the continuing education requirements for that biennium as stated in 64B8-45.001, F.A.C. but they are required to complete 2 hours of medical errors and 3 hours of HIV/AIDS.

“Live” Hours

At least ten (10) of the required hours per biennium must be in person (live) or from interactive, real-time courses. Courses may be web-based or online instruction that allows or requires the licensee to interact in real time with the instructor during the presentation of the program.

Please note: PDR courses are considered “home study” and are limited to 20 hours per renewal.

Home Study Hours

Home study education is independent study and requires a certificate of completion and an examination. Up to twenty (20) hours of credit shall be accepted per biennium for approved home study courses. PDR courses meet the criteria for home study hours.

Note: CE Broker identifies Home Study hours as “Anytime” hours.

Florida OT Laws & Rules is a 2-hour online continuing education (CE/CEU) course that meets the biennial license renewal requirement of Florida OT/OTAs.

This course addresses the laws and rules contained in the Florida Occupational Therapy Practice Act and the Florida Occupational Therapy Rules. The purposes of this course are to (1) provide the opportunity for a comprehensive reading of the two documents listed above, (2) ensure that Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) in the State of Florida are fully aware of the laws and rules governing the license under which they are practicing, and (3) fulfill the requirement that OTs and OTAs in Florida complete each biennial renewal period two hours of continuing education relating to the Practice of Occupational Therapy.

The laws and rules provided in this course are current as of January 2025. Please be advised that it is the licensed practitioner’s responsibility to stay abreast of changes made to the law and rules. Florida OT CEUs & License Renewal Information

Florida-licensed Occupational Therapists (OTs) have an upcoming license renewal deadline of February 28, 2025. PDR offers Florida OT CEUs to help licensees meet state renewal requirements.

The following continuing education (CE) requirements must be met to renew:

CE Required: 26 hours each renewal, including:
2 hours Preventing Medical Errors (required each renewal)
2 hours Florida Occupational Therapy Laws & Rules (required each renewal)
1 hour HIV/AIDS (required first renewal only)
Online CE Allowed: 12 hours (14 hours must be live or interactive)
