South Dakota OT’s License Renewal and Continuing Education

South Dakota-licensed occupational therapists have an annual license renewal with a January 1st deadline. Twelve (12) hours of continuing education is required in order to renew, and all 12 hours can be earned through home study. The board accepts AOTA approval of continuing education hours.

The purpose of continuing education is to ensure the highest possible standards for the occupational therapist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational pursuits that will build upon existing competencies gained from previous educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)approved provider of continuing education (#3159).

Continuing Education Requirements

South Dakota-licensed occupational therapists are required as a condition of licensure to complete a minimum of twelve continuing education hours annually. All twelve (12) continuing education hours can be earned from home study.
