The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists requires that all licensees complete a minimum of 40 hours of professional development (continuing education) during each 2-year renewal cycle.

CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA-sponsored
License Expiration: Last day of birth month, every 2 years
The 40 hours of professional development must include 6 hours in ethics and 6 hours designed to ensure competency when providing services to a distinct population, defined as a group of people who share a common attribute, trait, or defining characteristic of the licensee’s choice.
Texas psychologists and school psychologists are required to take a course on Human Trafficking approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) every renewal cycle. There is no set hour requirement, but it must come from HHSC’s course database: https://texashhs.org/ht-course. PDR’s course is not approved.
