Tennessee-licensed Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) have an annual license renewal with a December 31st deadline. In order to renew a license, ten (10) hours of continuing education are required. Of the ten hours required, five (5) hours of continuing education are allowed from home study (online courses). Licensee is responsible for determining the appropriateness of the courses. In addition, five (5) hours must be directly related to the area of practice.
The main objective of continuing education hours is to assure the highest standards for the speech language pathologist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that will build upon existing competence and skill gained from prior educational experiences.
Professional Development Resources is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology.
