Washington DC MFT Continuing Education and License Renewal

Washington, DC-licensed Marriage and Family Therapists have a biennial renewal with a December 31st deadline, even years. Thirty (30) board approved continuing education hours are required to renew a license. Of the thirty hours, fifteen (15) hours are allowed from home study (online courses). In addition, fifteen (15) hours must be live, and six (6) hours of ethics are required at each renewal. The board accepts APA approval of continuing education credits.

The main purpose of continuing education is to ensure the best standards for the marriage and family therapist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that will build upon existing competence and knowledge gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider of continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB Provider #1046, ACE Program); by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC Provider #5590); by the American Psychological Association (APA); and by the National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC, Provider #000279).
