Today is Family Literacy Day!

Family Literacy Day is observed each year on January 27.

Spearheaded by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999, Family Literacy Day® provides time for Canadians to come together in their homes and in their communities to participate in literacy-building activities. It’s also a good opportunity for family members to have fun.

Celebrated across the U.S. since 1994, this annual event provides an occasion for libraries to put a public spotlight on activities that promote learning experiences for children and their families.

Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton shares 27 ways to celebrate Family Literacy Day on her blog: http://drsaraheaton.wordpress.com/2011/01/12/27-ways-to-celebrate-family-literacy-day/
