Texas School Psychologists are required to renew their license(s) on a biennial basis.
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements:
CE Required: 40 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: No limit if APA-sponsored
License Expiration: Last day of birth month, every 2 years

Required CE Topics for Texas School Psychologists
At least 6 of the 40 hours must be in the area(s) of ethics, rules, or professional responsibility, with another 6 hours in the area of distinct populations. These hours may be counted toward the total number of hours required.
“Distinct population” is defined as a group of people who share a common attribute, trait, or defining characteristic of the licensee’s choice.
Texas school psychologists are required to take a course on Human Trafficking approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) every renewal cycle. There is no set hour requirement, but it must come from HHSC’s course database: https://texashhs.org/ht-course. PDR’s course is not approved.

Texas school psychologists may earn 39 hours per renewal (limited only by the human trafficking requirement) through online courses offered by PDR.
Professional Development Resources is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Professional Development Resources maintains responsibility for all programs and content.
PDR is a registered provider with CE Broker (#50-1635) and has been since 2004. All completions are reported within 24 hours. PDR began reporting to CE Broker for Texas licensees in August of 2025.
