Wisconsin Social Workers Continuing Education and License Renewals

Wisconsin-licensed social workers have a biennial license renewal with a February 28th deadline, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. Of the thirty hours, ten (10) continuing education hours is allowed from home study. Four hours of social work ethics and boundaries is required at each renewal and is not allowed from home study. The board accepts ASWB approval of continuing education hours.

All licensees are required as a condition of license renewal to participate in continuing educational activities that build upon existing competencies and knowledge gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider of continuing education for social workers by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB Provider #1046, ACE Program).
