Wisconsin Mental Health Counselors License Renewals and Continuing Education

Wisconsin-licensed mental health counselors have a biennial license renewal with a deadline of February 28th, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. All thirty hours are allowed from home study. Four (4) hours of ethics and boundaries is required at each renewal, and can be found online at PDResources.org. The board accepts NBCC approval of continuing education hours.

The main goal of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the mental health counselor profession. All licensees are required as a condition of license renewal to participate in continuing educational activities that build upon existing competencies and knowledge gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer home study continuing education for NCCs (Provider #5590). We adhere to NBCC guidelines.
