From PDResources

texasmentalhealthcounselorscerequirementchanges_204811_f.jpgThe Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors recently updated their rules on continuing education, which will affect the amount of hours you will be allowed to take from us in the future.

Effective for renewals 12/1/2016 and after, 9 of your 24 hours required for renewal must be “face-to-face.” This means that you will only be allowed to earn 15 hours per renewal though our online (independent study) courses.

CE Required: 24 hours every 2 years
Online CE Allowed: 15 hours (effective 12/1/2016 – 9 hours must be live)
License Expiration: Birthmonth, every 2 years
National Accreditation Accepted: NBCC, APA, ASWB

Notes: Licensees must complete at least 4 hours of ethics each renewal. Completion of the Texas LPC Jurisprudence Exam will count as 1 hour of ethics (also required each renewal). A licensee holding the supervisor status must complete 6 hours of continuing education in supervision each renewal.
