Continuing Education and License Renewal Information for Virginia Speech Language Pathologists

Virginia-licensed SLPs have a biennial license renewal with a December 31st deadline, even years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew a license. All thirty hours are allowed from home study (online courses) if ASHA approved. The board accepts ASHA approval of continuing education hours.

The main reason for continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the speech language pathologist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing education that will build upon existing competence and knowledge gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. CEUs are awarded by the ASHA CE Registry upon receipt of the CEU Participant Form from the ASHA Approved CE Provider. Continuing Education Requirements
