Pennsylvania Social Workers License Renewals and Continuing Education

Pennsylvania-licensed social workers have a biennial license renewal with a deadline of February 28th, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. Of the thirty hours, twenty (20) continuing education hours are allowed from home study. Three hours of ethics are required at each renewal, and can be found online at PDResources.org. The board accepts ASWB approval of continuing education hours.

The main goal of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the social work profession. All licensees are required as a condition of license renewal to participate in continuing educational activities that build upon existing skills and knowledge gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider of continuing education for social workers by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB Provider #1046, ACE Program).
