Pennsylvania Mental Health Counselors Continuing Education and License Renewals

Pennsylvania-licensed mental health counselors have a biennial license renewal with a deadline of February 28th, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required in order to renew a license. Of the thirty hours, twenty (20) continuing education hours are allowed from home study. Three hours of ethics are required at each renewal, and can be found online at PDResources.org. The board accepts NBCC approval of continuing education hours.

The main objective of continuing education is to assure the highest possible standards for the mental health counseling profession. All licensees are required as a condition of license renewal to participate in continuing educational activities that build upon existing skills and knowledge.

Professional Development Resources is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer home study continuing education for NCCs (Provider #5590). We adhere to NBCC guidelines.
