Illinois-licensed mental health counselors have a license renewal every two years with a March 31st deadline, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew a license. Of the thirty hours, fifteen (15) hours are allowed from home study “correspondence courses”, and they must have a posttest. All LCPCs are required to complete a minimum of 18 hours of clinical supervision as a one time required. The board accepts NBCC approval of continuing education hours.
The primary goal of continuing education is to ensure the highest possible standards for the mental health counseling profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing education as a licensing requirement.
Professional Development Resources is approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) to offer home study continuing education for NCCs (Provider #5590).
