New Mexico Speech Language Pathologists Continuing Education and License Renewals

New Mexico-licensed speech language pathologists have a biennial license renewal with a January 30th deadline. Twenty (20) hours of continuing education is required in order to renew, and all 20 hours can be earned from home study. Continuing education must be in the field of licensure. The board accepts ASHA approval of continuing education hours.

The reasoning behind continuing education is to ensure the highest possible standards for the speech language pathologist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational pursuits that will build upon existing competencies gained from prior educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology.

Continuing Education Requirements

New Mexico-licensed speech language pathologists are required as a condition of licensure to complete a minimum of twenty continuing education hours every two years. All twenty (20) hours of continuing education can be earned through home study.
