Maryland Occupational Therapists Continuing Education and License Renewal

Maryland-licensed Occupational Therapists (OTs) have an annual license deadline on December 31st. To renew a license, twelve (12) board approved continuing education hours are required. Twelve (12) hours of continuing education are allowed from home study. Of the twelve hours, eight (8) hours must be related to occupational therapy principles and procedures, and four (4) hours are allowed from OT role related activities. The board recognizes the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) as a provider of Maryland Occupational Therapist continuing education.

The primary purpose of continuing education is to assure the highest possible standards for the occupational therapy profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that will build upon existing competence and knowledge gained from prior formal educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)approved provider of continuing education (#3159). The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.

Requirements for Continuing Education
