Maine Occupational Therapists Continuing Education and License Renewal

Maine-licensed Occupational Therapists have a biennial license renewal with a deadline of December 31st, even years. Thirty-six (36) board approved continuing education hours are required in order to renew a license. Of the thirty-six hours, twenty-four (24) hours are allowed from home study. Content must be relevant to practice. The board accepts AOTA approval of continuing education.

The main objective of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the occupational therapist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing educational activities that will build upon existing competence and skill gained from previous educational experiences.

Professional Development Resources is an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)approved provider of continuing education (#3159). The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.

Requirements for Continuing Education
