Kentucky Mental Health Counselors Continuing Education and License Renewal

Licensed Kentucky mental health counselors have an annual license renewal with an October 31st deadline each year. In order to renew a license, ten (10) hours of continuing education is required. All ten hours of continuing education is allowed for home study if NBCC approved. All continuing education will need to be in or related to the field of professional counseling. The board recognizes the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the American Psychological Association (APA). as providers of Kentucky mental health counselors continuing education.

One of the primary goals of continuing education is to ensure the highest standards for the mental health counseling profession. All licensees are encouraged and required to participate in continuing educational activities to increase knowledge and skill in the field of mental health counseling.

Continuing Education Requirements
