Florida Social Workers Continuing Education and License Renewals

Multiracial Hands Making a CircleFlorida Social Workers have a license renewal every two years with a March 31st deadline, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew a license. All thirty hours is allowed from home study. The following courses are required at each renewal: Preventing Medical Errors in Behavioral Health, and Ethics & Boundaries in Psychotherapy. Two hours of Domestic Violence is required for 2013 and every six years. The board accepts ASWB approval of continuing education hours.

The primary goal of continuing education is to ensure the highest possible standards for the mental health counseling profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing education as a licensing requirement.

Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider of continuing education for social workers by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB Provider #1046, ACE Program).

Florida-licensed social workers are required as a condition of license renewal to complete a minimum of thirty (30) continuing education hours every two years with a March 31st deadline, odd years. All of the thirty (30) hours can be earned from home study.
