Florida Marriage and Family Therapists have a biennial license renewal with a March 31st deadline, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew a license. All thirty hours is allowed from home study. The following courses are required at each renewal: Preventing Medical Errors in Behavioral Health, and Ethics & Boundaries in Psychotherapy. Two hours of Domestic Violence is required for 2013 and every six years. The board accepts APA approval of continuing education hours.
The main goal of continuing education is to ensure the highest possible standards for the marriage and family therapist profession. All licensees are required to participate in continuing education as a licensing requirement.
Professional Development Resources is approved as a provider of continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB Provider #1046, ACE Program); by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC Provider #5590); by the American Psychological Association (APA); and by the National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC, Provider #000279).
Continuing Education Requirements
Florida-licensed marriage and family therapists are required as a condition of licensure to complete a minimum of thirty (30) continuing education hours every two years with a March 31st deadline, odd years. All of the thirty hours can be earned from home study.
