Florida-licensed dietitians and nutritionists have a biennial license renewal with a May 31st deadline, odd years. Thirty (30) hours of continuing education are required to renew a license every two years. Of the thirty hours, twenty (20) hours are allowed from home study. Two (2) hours of Preventing Medical Errors are required at each renewal, and three (3) hours of HIV/AIDS are required for the first renewal only. The board accepts CDR approval of continuing education hours.
The main reason for continuing education is to assure the highest possible standards for the dietetic/nutrition professions. All licensees are required to participate in continuing education as a condition of licensure.
