Chewing Gum May Aid Weight Loss

A study in Appetite found that chewing gum for at least 45 minutes before meals increased satiety and reduced the snack intake of healthy individuals by up to 10%. A study in 2009 found that chewing gum for an hour in the morning helped participants consume 67 fewer calories at lunch. The findings suggest that “gum may be a useful adjunct to weight control,” experts said.
